PTC News Desk: Bimla Devi, a resident of Kotkapura in Punjab, has won ₹1 crore in a lottery after buying a ticket for just ₹7. Her unexpected win has brought new hope for a better future for her children.

Bimla’s husband works as a labourer to support the family. She had bought the lottery ticket while going out to purchase clothes for her children. She purchased it from the Star Lottery Stall near the railway station on Railway Road, without expecting that it would bring her such a big reward.

The next day, lottery stall owner Naresh Monga contacted the family after the results were announced and informed them that Bimla had won the ₹1-crore prize in a lottery organised by the Sikkim government.

The prize money could provide much-needed financial relief to the family, which has struggled to manage household expenses on a labourer’s income.

Bimla said the win had given her family fresh hope for their children’s future. The family has not yet decided how to use the money. They plan to discuss it with other family members and are considering starting a small business to improve their financial condition.

Monga, who has been running the lottery business for the past six months, said his stall had previously sold tickets that won prizes worth several lakhs of rupees. However, this was the first time someone had won the ₹1-crore prize through his shop since he moved it near the railway station.
