Religious sentiments complaint against Ranbir Kapoor in viral video
PTC News Desk: Two advocates in Mumbai, Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, have lodged a formal complaint at Ghatkopar police station against Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family. The grievance centers on an alleged offense of hurting religious sentiments during a Christmas celebration, captured in a viral video.
The complaint specifically references a video showcasing Ranbir Kapoor participating in the annual Christmas lunch at Kunal Kapoor's residence. In the footage, Kapoor is seen lighting a Christmas cake while invoking 'Jai Mata Di,' coinciding with someone pouring wine over the cake.
The advocates contend that this act of combining intoxicants, prohibited in Hinduism, with a religious chant, amounts to disrespecting Hindu traditions and the "Sanatan Dharm." They assert that such actions could disrupt public order if widely circulated.
The filed complaint aims to instigate legal action against Kapoor under sections 295 A, 298, 500, and 34. Despite the complaint, no FIR has been registered against the Kapoor family as of yet based on these allegations.
