Facebook to shut its standalone Gaming app by end of 2022

US, August 31: Just over two years after launch, Facebook will be shutting down the Facebook Gaming app on October 28, 2022.  This app will also not be available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Facebook hit a roadblock when trying to launch apps, as Apple repeatedly rejected the app, citing its rules banning apps whose primary purpose was to distribute casual games. Apple's rules force Facebook to remove real game functionality from the app. It is not entirely clear why Meta chose to close the app, but it's possible the company will provide some colour on its decision in the future. -PTC News
