Ferozepur's SSP directed to investigate man's 'suicide' case

Mohali, February 11: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday heard Pramod Kumar Gupta vs State of Punjab matter via video conferencing. In this petition, the petitioner sought a fair investigation into the death of his brother, with the allegation being that the local police in collusion with the wife of his brother and her lover made it out to be a case of suicide and are now preparing a cancellation report. The deceased's brother further submitted that when the body was initially taken to Civil Hospital, Ferozepur, doctors on duty stated that it seemed to be the death due to strangulation. "The strangulation marks seen on the body are commensurate with a wire marking on the neck and the postmortem report subsequently given, to the effect that he died due to hanging with a dupatta, is wholly incorrect," the petitioner contended. Following this, the HC has directed the Ferozepur SSP to investigate the matter himself and file an affidavit in reply to the petition, taking into consideration the aforesaid contentions raised.
