The universities and colleges in Punjab have been reopened on November 16 in line with the guidelines issued by the Punjab government on the reopening of colleges and universities in the state.
Initially, the colleges and universities in Punjab will open with 50 percent of students from today.
The order of reopening of colleges and universities in Punjab was in continuation to the official letter dated October 12, vide which guidelines on reopening of Higher Education Institutions for research scholars (Ph.D.) and post-graduate students in science and technology streams requiring laboratories and experimental works were permitted to open in areas outside containment zones after October 15.
As per the guidelines, all the staff of Punjab colleges and universities should be tested with RT-PCR for COVID-19.
The colleges will adopt hybrid teaching ensuring full and systematic coverage of syllabus.
The principal may get Standard Operating Procedures worked out in view of the COVID-19 outbreak, in accordance with the orders and guidelines issued by the government.
The educational institutions in Punjab remained closed since March in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
While colleges and universities are reopening, there has been no update on the reopening of schools in the state for all students. The schools have been allowed to open in the state only for students of classes 9 to 12.
