Dental emergency guide book Launched in Panchkula by Dr Pankaj Shourie
PTC Web Desk: A practical handbook titled 'Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice' – A Practical Chairside Guide authored by Dr Pankaj Shourie was formally launched at Civil Hospital Panchkula by Dr RS Chauhan.
Dr Shourie, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon currently posted at General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, brings over 26 years of clinical experience in dentistry and surgery. Known as a leading implantologist in the region, he has served across various levels of government healthcare system, including civil hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres and government dispensaries.
The book aims to equip dental professionals with the knowledge and confidence to handle medical emergencies that may arise during dental procedures. It provides step-by-step guidance on identifying and managing critical conditions such as syncope (fainting), allergic reactions, hypoglycemia, asthma attacks, and cardiac emergencies, along with complications linked to dental treatments.
Speaking at the launch, Dr Shourie emphasised that while emergencies in dental clinics are relatively rare, preparedness is crucial to ensure patient safety. He said the guide has been designed as an easy-to-use, chairside reference for dentists.
Dr Chauhan lauded the initiative, calling the book a significant contribution to the medical and dental fraternity. He noted that such resources play a vital role in strengthening emergency preparedness and enhancing patient care standards.
The publication is expected to benefit dental practitioners, students and healthcare institutions alike.
