IMD issues orange alert as min temp to dip by 3-5 degrees in next 3 days
As cold wave conditions gripped Northwest India including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an orange colour-coded alert to the states. As per the report, the IMD stated that following the passage of the western disturbance, there will be a fall in minimum temperatures by 3-5°C over Northwest India during the next 3 days (December 29-31) and a slight rise by 2-3°C thereafter. Similarly, the Cold Wave conditions in isolated pockets over these regions likely on December 31, 2020, and January 1, 2021. The IMD also stated that cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in isolated pockets likely over Uttar Pradesh and isolated cold wave conditions are likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha during December 30-31, 2020. IMD stated that dense to very dense fog in isolated pockets likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi in the morning hours during December 29, 2020, till January 2, 2021, while over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Uttar Pradesh in the morning hours during December 31, 2020, till January 2, 2021. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Monday will be at 4 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature will be around 20 degrees Celsius. -PTC News
