IND vs ENG, 2nd Test Day 3: Yet another thrilling day of cricket as it ends with India 7 wickets away from levelling the series at 1-1. England need another 429 runs to win but it seems difficult as it already lost two openers Rory Burns (25) and Dominic Sibley (3) and a night watchman Jack Leach (0). Ravichandran Ashwin smashed century and received applauds from the cricket fans.
On a track touted as minefield, Ravichandran Ashwin came out with a mindset to prove everyone wrong and smashed his 5th Test century.
Virat Kohli scored 62 and then Mohammad Siraj gave Ashwin company to the hundred. England started the day with confidence as it claimed 3 early wickets in the form of Cheteshwar Pujara (7), Rishabh Pant (8) and Ajinkya Rahane (10).
However, England started conceding easy runs and losing discipline, with both ball and in the field. When India was bowled out for 286, it left visitors with a huge target of 482.
After the dismissal of Burns, Sibley and Jack Leach, Root survived by the barest of margins possible. Now, Joe Root will have to lead England's fight on Day 4 as the victory is very far.
Also, the Day 4 of IND vs ENG, 2nd Test, could be the last day if the visitors fail to draw inspiration from Ashwin's batting and get bundled on Tuesday only.
Daniel Lawrence is currently batting at 19 while Joe Root is on 2. Both the English batsmen will begin the Day 4 and will look ahead to go with positivity and confidence.
