India logs 3,324 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours

New Delhi, May 1: The daily Covid-19 cases in the country saw a slight decline as 3,324 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours, 364 fewer than Saturday. With this, the daily positivity rate was reported at 0.71 percent, the Union Health Ministry informed on Sunday. India had recorded 3,688 Covid-19 cases on Saturday. The active caseload in the country now stands at 19,092, which is 0.04 percent of the total cases. A total of 2,876 Covid patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,25,36,253. The recovery rate is now reported at 98.74 percent. India's Covid cases continue to rise The country also reported 40 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative death tally to 5,23,843. The weekly positivity rate stands at 0.68 percent, as per the health ministry's update. As many as 4,71,087 Covid samples were tested in the last 24 hours; a total of 83.79 crore tests have been conducted in the country so far. With this, the total number of vaccine shots administered under the nationwide vaccination drive so far went up to 1,89,17,69,346. India's Covid cases continue to rise More than 19.18 crore balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. "More than 19.18 Cr (19,18,32,775) balance and unutilized Covid Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered," the ministry updated. It further added, "More than 193.28 crore (1,93,28,90,965) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through the direct state procurement category."
