India records 3,545 new Covid-19 cases, 27 deaths in a day

New Delhi, May 6: India reported 3,545 new Covid-19 cases in a day taking the tally of coronavirus cases reported so far to 4,30,94,938. The number of active cases declined to 19,688, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The Covid-19 death toll has climbed to 5,24,002 with 27 more fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated. Active coronavirus cases comprised 0.05 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was 98.74 per cent, the health ministry said. India records 3,545 new Covid-19 cases, 27 deaths in a day According to it, the daily positivity rate was 0.76 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.79 per cent. India's active caseload decreased by 31 in a day. The cumulative Covid vaccine doses administered in the country so far have exceeded 189.81 crore. India conducted 83.98 crore coronavirus tests in the last 24 hours. A total of 4,65,918 samples have been tested in the country so far. As far as the vaccination is concerned, 16,59,843 fresh Covid vaccines were jabbed during this period. The total number of vaccine doses administered under the nationwide vaccination drive rises to 1,89,81,52,695. India records 3,545 new Covid-19 cases, 27 deaths in a day On the other hand, Delhi reported 1,365 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday taking the active caseload in the city to 5,746. There is a slight increase in cases compared to Wednesday when Delhi had seen 1,354 new Covid-19 cases. The national capital witnessed a dip in the daily case positivity rate which now stands at 6.35 per cent against 7.64 per cent on Wednesday.
