Indian Railways to run 392 additional trains ahead of festive season [List]

Ahead of the festive season, the Indian Railways on Tuesday approved 196 pairs (392 trains) “Festival Special” services which will be operated from October 20, 2020 and November 30, 2020.

The fare for these Indian Railways’ Festival Special services will be that applicable for special trains. Meanwhile, the Zonal Railways will notify its schedule well in advance.

Festival Special services will run for destinations such as Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi and Lucknow among the others to cater to the demand during the upcoming festive season starting with Durga Puja, Dussehra and later on Diwali and Chhatt puja.

The Railway Board, in an order issued on Tuesday, said that these festival special trains will be operated at a speed of 55 kmph while the fares applicable will be those of special trains.

The Indian Railways has also pressed into service of over 300 mail and express trains, that are running on the daily basis across the nation.

It is pertinent to mention that the Indian Railways had suspended all the passenger trains services in March due to nationwide lockdown induced by the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.

However, the national transporter has resumed its services in a staggered manner, with the Shramik Special trains helping stranded migrant workers reach their home states from May 1.

educareLater, the Ministry of Railways announced 230 special trains that were started across the country, followed by another 80 special trains from September 12.
