IPL 2022: Overseas player among 3 Covid-19 positives in Delhi Capitals
Pune (Maharashtra), April 18: An overseas player in the Delhi Capitals team has tested positive for coronavirus infection, taking the total number of positive cases in the franchise to three, reported NDTV citing sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
According to media reports, physio Patrick Farhart and the team masseur had tested positive last week, while the player's test results returned positive earlier on Monday. The entire Delhi Capitals squad has been quarantined in the hotel for the time being and is currently awaiting its RT-PCR test results.
As per the reports by several media outlets, an Australian all-rounder showed some symptoms and a Rapid Antigen Test was performed which came positive.
Due to this the team has delayed its travel to Pune. The squad was meant to travel from Mumbai to Pune on Monday, ahead of their match against Punjab Kings at the MCA Stadium on Wednesday.

"DC were supposed to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been told to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to ascertain whether there is an outbreak in the camp or it is an isolated case like Patrick Farhart," a BCCI source stated on Monday.
"All teams are staying at Conrad Hotel in Pune where BCCI has created a bio-bubble. They were supposed to travel but now it has been delayed. Obviously, all those whose results would be negative would carry on with onward journey tomorrow," the source added.
When physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for Coronavirus infection, it was the first Covid case in any of the team bubbles to be reported since the start of IPL 2022, on March 26. Last year, the IPL had to be postponed owing to the havoc caused by Covid-19 and the second leg was played in the UAE.
