Jahangirpuri violence: Arms supplier nabbed, has over 60 criminal cases
New Delhi, April 20: In a fresh development with the Jahangirpuri violence case, Delhi police on Wednesday arrested an arms supplier after a brief encounter in the area.
According to DCP Outer North, Brijender Yadav, the arms supplier has over 60 cases registered against him.
“Arms supplier from Jahangirpuri nabbed after a brief encounter, he was injured in the police encounter. He has more than 60 previous cases," said DCP Yadav.
Ghulam Rasool alias Gulli has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly supplying a pistol to an accused in the Jahangirpuri violence on April 16. The clash erupted between members of two groups during a Hanuman Jayanti procession.
Meanwhile, National Security Act (NSA) has been imposed against five culprits involved in the clashes, top government officials said.

NSA has been imposed against Ansar, Salim, Imam Sheikh alias Sonu, Dilshad and Ahir for their involvement in the Jahangirpuri violence, officials informed on Tuesday. The action was taken a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana to take strict action over the incident of violence in Jahangirpuri.
Furthermore, a National Commission for Minorities delegation led by chairperson Iqbal Singh Lalpura visited the violence-hit Jahangirpuri and called upon the administration to ensure that no innocent person is booked in the matter.
The delegation further urged the administration to "quickly" nab the culprits of the violence.
According to the statement by National Commission for Minorities, the delegation was informed that "the third procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti which did not have the permission was being organised by Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP)/Bajrang Dal."
So far, 21 people have been arrested and two juveniles detained in connection with the violent incident that left nine people injured including eight cops and one civilian.
A close watch was being maintained on the social media platforms and assured legal action against those attempting to spread misinformation.
