Major Dhyan Chand Birth Anniversary: PM Narendra Modi pays tribute to the Hockey Wizard on National Sports Day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the Fit India Movement on the occasion of National Sports Day 2019, where he remembered India's Hockey Wizard, Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary. Dhyan Chand was one of the most anticipated athletes across the world. Major Dhyan Chand Birth Anniversary falls in August, which is also celebrated as the National Sports Day. Likewise, while launching the Fit India Movement, he remembered Major Dhyan Chand. PM Modi said, "On this day a great sportsperson was born, Major Dhyan Chand. He amazed the world with his fitness, stamina, and hockey stick". Also, he said, that I salute to Major Dhyan Chand who mesmerized the world with his skills. Likewise, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said, "Rich tributes to 'The Wizard' of hockey, Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary, who is unarguably the greatest of all time. I also salute all the sports-persons who have made India proud with great vigor & passion".
