PTC News Desk: In a significant development, 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Tahawwur Rana has been extradited to India from the United States and is expected to arrive tomorrow morning, according to the reports. He is being flown to India in special flight which is expected to touch down India in the wee hours of Thursday.

The reports of extradition has been doing rounds as a multi-agency team from India travelled to the United States to bring back Rana for long-standing trial.

“There is a very high possibility that Rana could be extradited to India shortly,” said sources.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently obtained court orders seeking the transfer of the case from Mumbai to Delhi. NIA could seek the custodial interrogation of Rana once he lands in India and is produced in court.

In line with recommendations from a US court, discreet high-security arrangements have been put in place at two jails in Delhi and Mumbai. Upon arrival in India, Rana will be in custody of National Investigative Agency (NIA).

The extradition is closely being monitored by NSA Ajit Doval along with other senior officials from NIA and Ministry of Home Affairs.

Earlier the US Supreme Court had dismissed Rana's plea seeking a stay on extradition. "The application for stay addressed to The Chief Justice and referred to the Court is denied," the SC order dated Monday, April 7, 2025, stated.

Rana is an associate of Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the key conspirators of the November 26 attacks in Mumbai in 2008. He is a Pakistani-origin businessman, physician, and immigration entrepreneur.
