Another Shraddha Walkar-like case: Mumbai man kills live-in-partner, chops body into pieces
Mumbai (Maharashtra), June 8: Mumbai Police have detained a 56-year-old man for allegedly murdering his live-in partner and dismembering her body, the police officials informed.
The accused has been identified as Manoj Sahani who had been staying with 32-year-old woman identified as Saraswati Vaidya in the rental flat in the Akashganga building in the Mira Road area over the past three years.
On Wednesday, residents in the building complained to the Nayanagar police station about a foul odour emanating from the couple's flat.
According to police, Manoj killed Saraswati Vaidya three-four days back. After that, he purchased a tree-cutter to chop her into pieces. Giving details about the henious crime, the Police added that the accused boiled pieces of her body in a pressure cooker and later filled them into plastic bags to dispose of them. Police say that over 12-13 pieces of the woman's body were recovered from the site.
"Local Police had received information on the complaints of foul smell emanating from the flat. When the Police officers and staff checked it, the information was confirmed. Once the lock was broken and the Police went inside, chopped pieces of the body were found in utensils and buckets. The accused (Manoj Sane) has been arrested. Pieces of the body have been sent to JJ Hospital for analysis. FIR has been registered and further investigation is being done," Jayant Bajbale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Mumbai said.
