PTC Web Desk: Playback singer Arijit Singh has come out in support of students protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET paper leak and irregularities in the examination system. The singer strongly criticised the police action taken against students during the 'Chalo Sansad' march, expressing concern over the use of force on peaceful protesters.

Thousands of students gathered in New Delhi on Monday and marched towards Parliament under the banner of the 'Chalo Sansad' campaign. The protesters demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him responsible for alleged lapses in the conduct of the NEET examination.

According to organisers, the march was part of the ongoing agitation against examination irregularities. As the crowd attempted to move towards Parliament, Delhi Police stopped the protesters. During the confrontation, the police reportedly used tear gas and lathi-charge to disperse the gathering. The campaign, which has been continuing since the end of last month, is being led by the digital advocacy group CJP. The organisation alleged that police used excessive force against students, leaving several protesters injured.

Arijit Singh reacts on social media

Reacting to the incident, Arijit Singh shared a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), questioning the treatment of students by the authorities.

In one of his posts, he criticised the action against protesters and questioned whether such force against students was justified.

In another post, the singer also took a swipe at political leaders, asking them to reflect on their actions. He further remarked that every action would be remembered and reminded people that change is inevitable.

Several celebrities extend support

Arijit Singh is among several prominent personalities who have backed the students' protest. Veteran actor Shabana Azmi and actor Prakash Raj reportedly joined the protest march, while filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, actor Zeenat Aman, filmmaker Kiran Rao, actors Bhumi Pednekar and Huma Qureshi, along with singer Diljit Dosanjh, expressed support for the students through social media posts.

The protest over the NEET examination controversy continues to draw attention, with students demanding greater transparency and accountability in the country's examination system.
