Bhopal shocker: Unemployed man strangles live-in partner, sleeps next to her body for two days
Bhopal crime news: In a deeply disturbing incident that has shaken Bhopal, a 32-year-old man allegedly murdered his live-in partner and spent two days sleeping beside her decomposing body, pretending as if nothing had happened. The horrifying crime took place in the city's Gayatri Nagar area and has sparked conversations about the fragility and emotional volatility of modern-day relationships.
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Sachin Rajput, strangled 29-year-old Ritika Sen on the night of June 27 following a heated argument. The couple had been in a live-in relationship for nearly three and a half years. While Ritika worked in a private firm, Sachin was unemployed and increasingly suspicious of her professional interactions, especially with her boss.
Consumed by jealousy and joblessness, Sachin’s insecurities led to an explosive confrontation. In a fit of rage, he allegedly strangled Ritika to death. What followed next has shocked even seasoned investigators.
Instead of alerting the authorities or seeking help, Sachin wrapped Ritika’s body in a blanket and left it on the bed. He then continued to live in the same room for two days, drinking heavily and sleeping beside the corpse. The murder came to light only when Sachin, in a drunken state, confessed to his friend Anuj in Misrod. Initially dismissed as a drunken rant, the friend took the matter seriously the next day and informed the police.
The Bajaria police rushed to the rented house and discovered Ritika’s body in the same state described by the accused. The body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition, still wrapped in the same blanket. A murder case has been registered, and Sachin has been taken into custody.
Police station in-charge Shilpa Kaurav confirmed, “Sachin, who is married and has two children, had been living with Ritika for over three years. On June 27, a fight broke out between them, and he killed her. He remained in the room for two days before revealing the truth to a friend.”
Sachin hails from Sironj in Vidisha district, and had moved into the Gayatri Nagar residence with Ritika about nine months ago. While Ritika managed household expenses through her job, Sachin remained jobless and increasingly possessive, leading to frequent quarrels.
