Central Armed Police forces deployed in Punjab ahead of Lok Sabha elections
PTC News Desk: Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Punjab state is bolstering security measures with the deployment of 25 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
This deployment comprises five companies of Central Reserved Police Forces (CRPF), 15 companies of Border Security Force (BSF), and five companies of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), as confirmed by officials.
The primary objective of this deployment is to establish area domination and implement confidence-building measures throughout Punjab. Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla emphasised that these forces will be strategically stationed in vulnerable districts to reassure the public and maintain control over sensitive areas.
Furthermore, authorities are actively mapping out vulnerable zones to facilitate the targeted deployment of additional forces, thereby preempting any potential disturbances leading up to the elections.

Shukla highlighted the proactive measures being taken, including vigilant monitoring of anti-social elements by CPs/SSPs and the organization of flag marches in respective jurisdictions to bolster public confidence.
Under the leadership of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the Punjab Police reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a fair, peaceful, and transparent electoral process across the state.
