Newborn’s severed remains found at multiple spots in Chamba village, probe underway
PTC Web Desk: A disturbing incident has come to light in Churah subdivision of Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, where the severed remains of a newborn were found at different locations in Tikrigarh village.
A truck driver reportedly noticed the infant’s head lying along the roadside while passing through the area on Friday. He informed local panchayat representatives, who subsequently alerted the police.
Police personnel from the Nakrod police post reached the location after receiving the information and began collecting evidence.

Apart from the head, other body parts were reportedly discovered a short distance away. The remains have been sent to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Chamba for post-mortem and forensic examination.
Chamba Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani said the examination would help investigators determine the circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death.
Investigators are now trying to establish the identity of the newborn and determine how the remains ended up at the locations.
The police are questioning residents in the area as part of the investigation. ASHA workers have also been asked to provide information about pregnant women and recent deliveries in the locality.
Investigators are also examining the possibility that wild animals may have mutilated the body after death.
SP Vijay Kumar Saklani said the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading to the discovery of the remains would be known only after a detailed investigation and forensic examination.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is in progress.
