Chennai horror: Former classmate, who changed gender, burns woman alive in horrific incident
Chennai, December 25: In a chilling turn of events in Thalambur near Kelambakkam, a tranquil suburb of Chennai, a 24-year-old software engineer, R Nandhini, faced a harrowing demise on the eve of her birthday. Vetrimaran, alias Pandi Maheswari, her former classmate, orchestrated a horrific sequence of events, chaining, slashing, and burning her alive. The unfathomable act transpired under the guise of a birthday surprise, shattering the peace of the area.
Nandhini, hailing from Madurai, resided with her relatives in Chennai. Vetrimaran, having undergone a sex change and now under a different identity, manipulated the situation to deceive Nandhini, whom he considered a friend, into a vicious trap on the pretext of a celebration.
Tambaram Police Commissioner Amalraj disclosed that the investigation into the incident involves probing the nature of their friendship and Vetrimaran's potential history of violence. The pair had previously studied together in Madurai and later worked at a private IT firm in Thoraipakkam, Chennai.
The gruesome act, instigated by Vetrimaran's suspicions of Nandhini's purported interest in others, unfolded during what was intended as a birthday surprise. Despite community members discovering Nandhini in distress and rushing her to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. The swift arrest of Vetrimaran ensued, charged with murder and currently remanded to judicial custody, while investigations continue into this tragic, heart-wrenching incident.
