Citizens can now verify email, mobile numbers seeded with Aadhaar
New Delhi, May 2: With user benefits in mind, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has permitted citizens to verify their mobile numbers and email IDs seeded with their Aadhaar.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the UIDAI was made aware that in some cases, citizens were unaware or unsure which of their mobile numbers was seeded to their Aadhaar. As a result, citizens were concerned that their Aadhaar OTP would be sent to a different mobile number. People can now easily check these with this facility.
The service is available through the UIDAI official website's 'Verify email/mobile Number' option or the mAadhaar App. It was created to allow citizens to confirm that their personal email/mobile number is associated with their respective Aadhaar.
This feature confirms to customers that the email/mobile number under their knowledge is solely seeded to their specific Aadhaar. It also warns residents if a specific cellphone number is not linked and advises users to take the appropriate actions to change the mobile number, according to the Ministry.
If the cellphone number has already been validated, residents will get a notice that says, 'the mobile number you have provided is already verified with our records' on their screen.
If a person cannot recall the mobile number she or he provided during enrollment, she or he can check the last three digits of the mobile on the Verify Aadhaar feature on the Myaadhaar portal or the mAadhaar App.
If you want to link an email/mobile number to Aadhaar or update your email/mobile number, go to the nearest Aadhaar centre.
