Congress organisational reshuffle: Pargat singh named Punjab unit chief, Aradhana Misra gets charge of Uttar Pradesh
PTC News Desk: In a major organisation reshuffle, Congress appointed Jalandhar Cantonment MLA and former Olympian Pargat Singh as the new president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). His appointment takes effect immediately. The party has replaced Ajay Rai with three-time Rampur Khas MLA Aradhana Misra Mona as the new Uttar Pradesh Congress chief. Saharanpur MP Imran Masood has been appointed working president.
Pargat Singh was given Punjab unit's charge after Amarinder Singh Raja Warring resigned as party chief. Warring submitted his resignation to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi following a meeting at his residence.

The appointments were approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and will take effect immediately.
The change in Uttar Pradesh come as the Congress prepares for seat-sharing talks with the Samajwadi Party. The party is reportedly seeking around 150-200 seats in the 403-member Assembly as part of the negotiations, while also preparing plans to contest all seats if no agreement is reached.
Aradhana Misra, daughter of senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari, represents Rampur Khas and has previously served as the Congress Legislature Party leader in Uttar Pradesh.
Imran Masood, who represents Saharanpur in the Lok Sabha, will take on a key organisational role as working president.
The Congress thanked outgoing state president Ajay Rai for his contribution but did not announce his next role.
Rai had led the Uttar Pradesh Congress during the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, when the Congress and Samajwadi Party contested together. The two parties have continued their political partnership, but seat-sharing for the upcoming Assembly election is expected to be more challenging. Congress leaders have indicated that they want to negotiate seats based on their own assessment rather than accept an allocation solely decided by the SP.
