PTC News Desk: A Delhi court on Monday rejected Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea for regular 15-minute video conferences with his doctor. Kejriwal is a Type 2 diabetes patient.

The Rouse Avenue Court has, however, ordered the set up of a medical panel comprised of expert doctors to determine if the Aam Aadmi Party leader requires regular insulin shots. This panel will also recommend a diet and exercises for Arvind Kejriwal, 55. However, until a panel is formed and makes its recommendations, the Chief Minister may continue to eat home-cooked food as long as he follows the court's instructions.

The court also urged jail officials to ensure that the Chief Minister receives proper medical care, including professional treatment from diabetologists or endocrinologists.

Kejriwal, who was arrested last month in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam, filed a petition alleging that Tihar Jail officials failed to provide a regular supply of insulin, a critical drug for diabetics. The Enforcement Directorate, which arrested the AAP chief, claimed that he had consumed sugary foods in order to qualify for medical bail.

However, the AAP has claimed there is a "conspiracy to kill" Kejriwal in Tihar. The AAP leader has stated that he has been prescribed 50 units of insulin per day, 28 in the morning and 22 at night, and that he has been "deprived of the life-saving drug for 29 days".

This morning, he reported that his blood sugar level was between 250 and 320 mg/dl; according to World Health Organisation guidelines, "expected values for normal fasting blood glucose concentration are between 70 and 100 mg/dL (or milligrams per decilitre)".
