Delhi LG Saxena orders probe into AAP's 'Operation Lotus' allegations against BJP

PTC News Desk: Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena on Friday ordered a probe into Aam Aadmi Party's 'Operation Lotus' allegations against BJP. The Lt Governor has directed Anti Corruption Bureau to investigate AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's allegations that BJP is attempting to poach  his party's candidates ahead of Delhi assembly poll results slated to be declared on Saturday February 8.

The Lt Governor's order comes on the basis of a formal complaint made by Delhi BJP Secretary Vishnu Mittal while asserting that the party did not present any evidence to corroborate its claims.

"The allegations levelled by Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh are very serious in nature and call for serious and immediate investigation," Mittal said in his letter to Saxena.

The Aam Aadmi Party chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused BJP of poaching his pary's candidates ahead of Delhi assembly poll results on Febraury 8.

Earlier in a post on X, Kejriwal claimed that 16 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates had received offers from the BJP with the promise of ministerial positions and Rs 15 crore each if they switch sides.

"Some agencies are showing that the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave the AAP and join their party, they will be made ministers and given Rs 15 crore each," Kejriwal said in his post.

The development comes after AAP claimed that BJP attempted to poach its candidates ahead of the results and offered Rs 15 crore to seven of its candidates to switch sides. However saffron party has refuted such allegation while asserting that AAP has been making baseless claims due to its frustration over impending electoral defeat.
