Delhi Namaz Incident: Police express regret, urge people to maintain communal harmony

Delhi Namaz Incident: Delhi Police on Saturday denounced the Inderlok incident after the video went viral on the internet. The video shows a police officer beating up a few people offering Namaz on a road.
In a statement issued on Friday, Police expressed regret for the reported incident and urged people to maintain communal harmony.

In a Hindi post on social media platform X, the DCP of North East Delhi stated, "The people of North-East district have always supported the police in maintaining law and order. We condemn the Inderlok incident. All police personnel have been given strict instructions in light of this incident."


"We call on the people to maintain communal harmony and not pay heed to rumours," the DCP said in a statement. 

Earlier on Friday, Manoj Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North, stated that necessary action had been taken against the accused officer and that the police post-in-charge had also been suspended as a result of the alleged incident. 

"Action has been taken against the police officer seen in the viral video. The police officer in charge has also been suspended. Strict disciplinary action is being implemented. The situation in the area is normal," North's DCP stated after the video went viral.

Security personnel remain deployed in Inderlok

On Saturday, at least three paramilitary companies and local police have been deployed in Inderlok and surrounding areas of north Delhi, according to officials.

According to official sources, senior police officers met with members of a peace committee to de-escalate tensions.

On Saturday, Joint Commissioner of Police (North) Parmaditya said the situation is completely under control and there is peace in the area.
