Delhi Police high handedness: Delhi Police face massive backlash after cop slaps woman protestor during CJP protest

PTC News Desk: A Delhi Police personnel is at the centre of a controversy after a video of him slapping a woman protestor during CJP protest went viral on social media, triggering massive outrage. 


Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for North-East Delhi Sandeep Lamba is facing massive backlash after a video purportedly shows him assaulting a female protestor after cornering her during Monday's police crackdown on demonstrators.

Responding to the viral video, Abhijeet Dipke, founding president of the Cockroach Janata Party, alleged that Lamba was the same officer "who climbed on the truck to hit Geetanjali Wangchuk" and that he "later grabbed her hair."

"Sandeep Lamba is not mentally fit to serve in the police," Dipke wrote on X.

The incident has triggered series of criticism from across the political parties with leaders condemning police brutality. 

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra condemned the incident in a post on X.

"No! He was not just doing his job! We need to name, shame & ensure social boycotts for each of these brutes & take them to court. First is Sandeep Lamba," Moitra posted on X.

Congress general secretary (Organisation) K. C. Venugopal also shared the video, accusing the Delhi Police of using excessive force against protesters.

"This is the true face of Amit Shah's goons in uniform," he wrote on X.
