'Students are not political tools': Dharmendra Pradhan breaks silence over protest outside PM residence, slams Rahul Gandhi
PTC News Desk: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan broke his silence over the protest outside PM Modi's residence led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and accused him of using students as political tools.
Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other leaders and workers had reached the PM's house on Tuesday afternoon to protest against the NEET paper leak and other leaks as well as the "brutality" against students who were part of the march to Parliament organised by the Cockroach Janta Party on Monday.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accused the Congress of trying to disrupt the Monsoon Session of Parliament instead of helping find a solution to the NEET paper leak issue. In a post on X, he alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress staged a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence even though the government had agreed to hold a detailed discussion on the matter in Parliament.
Pradhan said Rahul Gandhi and the Congress were using students for political purposes and creating unnecessary disruption during the session.
His remarks came after Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, protested outside the Prime Minister's residence over the alleged police action against students during the CJP protest on July 20. Several Opposition leaders were detained by Delhi Police during the protest and later released.
Pradhan claimed that despite the government's willingness to discuss the NEET issue in Parliament, the Congress preferred protests over debate. He alleged that the party's aim was to create political controversy rather than find solutions for students.
He said the Centre was ready to discuss the issue in Parliament and address the genuine concerns of students. Pradhan added that students deserve solutions, certainty and responsible action instead of political conflicts.
The Union minister also said the government is committed to providing answers, bringing reforms and ensuring accountability while strengthening the examination system.
