PTC News Desk: Delhi's streets were infused with an electrifying atmosphere as Muslims congregated at Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah and Nizamuddin Market to mark the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The iconic dome of Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah shimmered under the glow of yellow lights, signaling the onset of Eid festivities on Thursday.

Crowds surged through the bustling markets, brimming with excitement as they selected sweets, garments, and other essentials, exchanging warm Eid greetings along the way. At the renowned Jama Masjid, a significant gathering of faithful offered their prayers, adding to the spirit of the occasion.

Security measures were tightened across the capital, with thorough vehicle and individual checks conducted by the police to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration. Barricades were strategically placed to manage the expected influx of visitors to the dargah throughout the day.

Eid-ul-Fitr, celebrated on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic lunar calendar, holds profound significance, rooted in the tradition of moon sighting. This tradition, tracing back to Prophet Muhammad's era, marks the beginning of a new month and embodies the essence of anticipation and renewal.

In Mumbai's Mohammed Ali Road, preparations mirrored the fervor seen in Delhi, with crowds flocking to shops adorned with sweets, dry fruits, and garments. Shopkeepers, like Razeer and Faiyaz Khan, eagerly anticipated the bustling activity, recounting the cherished traditions associated with Eid celebrations.

Razeer, reflecting on the month of Ramzan, highlighted the spiritual journey of fasting and the culmination in prayers and festivities. He described the preparation of Sheer khurma, a delectable concoction of milk, almonds, and pistachios, as a cherished tradition symbolizing the essence of Eid.

Faiyaz Khan, a seasoned dry fruit seller, emphasised the enduring popularity of his shop during Eid, showcasing the vibrancy of community engagement during this auspicious time.

The sighting of the crescent moon heralded the end of Ramzan and the commencement of Eid ul-Fitr, a pivotal moment in the Islamic calendar. Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali of Lucknow's Markazi Chand Committee affirmed the significance of moon sighting in determining the celebration of Eid, underscoring the diversity in observance across different regions.

As the curtains fell on the holy month of Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr not only marked the conclusion of a period of fasting but also signaled the beginning of a new spiritual journey. Across India, the celebration of Eid exemplified the rich tapestry of traditions and the unity in diversity that defines the essence of this auspicious occasion.
