Five Kanwar Yatris dead, 14 injured as two trucks collide on Delhi's GT Karnal road
New Delhi: Five 'Kanwariyas' were killed and 14 others were injured as a truck carrying Kanwar Yatris collided with another on the GT Karnal road on Thursday, police said.
At 00.44 a.m. on Thursday, the police received a PCR call. When the police arrived, they found that one of the trucks was carrying Kanwar pilgrims from Mianwali Nagar near Nangloi in the national capital to Haridwar.
According to preliminary investigation, one of the trucks, which was bound for Delhi, crossed the central divider of the GT Karnal road and rammed the other truck, carrying 20–23 Kanwariyas, coming from the opposite direction.
At least 15 people were injured and four died on the spot. Later, one injured person scummbed to his injuries.
Accused driver Pappu Kumar has also been arrested. Further investigation underway
