Five-year-old boy falls to death from 22nd floor after door gets locked accidentally
PTC News Desk: In a tragic incident, a five-year-old died after falling from 22nd floor of a high-rise building in Gurugram on Sunday.
The boy’s father is a builder and his mother a doctor, both of whom were at work at the time. The incident took place around 5.30 pm on Saturday evening at the Pioneer Presidia housing society in Sector 62, when the child, Rudra Tej Singh, returned home after playing and accidentally got locked inside the home.
In an attempt to call help, he climbed onto the balcony railing, lost balance and plunged from the 22nd floor, police said.
“The boy and the caretaker were returning from the park in the elevator. He rushed into the house and slammed the door shut. The digital lock could be opened only with the passcode, which only the parents knew,” said an investigating officer aware of the case details.
Residently quickly rushed the boy to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The boy was an only child of his parents.
The boy's father has ruled out any foulplay and given his statement at the police station stating that his son died accidentally after getting locked in the apartment alone.
