Freak incidents: Two basketball players die in separate pole collapse accidents in Haryana
PTC News Desk: In two separate accidents, two schoolboys died during basketball practice when the poles reportedly fell on them in Rohtak and Bahadurgarh (Jhajjar district). The victims were Aman, age 15, from Bahadurgarh, and Hardik, age 16, from Lakhan Majra in Rohtak. Both were Class 10 students.
The first incident happened in Bahadurgarh on Sunday. Aman had gone to a local stadium to practice basketball in the afternoon when the pole suddenly collapsed and hit him. He was taken to the civil hospital and later shifted to PGIMS Rohtak, but he died on Monday night. His last rites were performed on Tuesday.
The second accident took place on Tuesday at a stadium in Lakhan Majra, Rohtak. Hardik was badly injured when the basketball pole broke and fell on him as he reportedly tried to touch the basket. Other players quickly rushed to help, removed the pole and took him to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead. The incident was recorded by a CCTV camera near the court. Hardik had earlier played in the sub-junior national championship.
These two tragic incidents have shocked people across both districts and the entire state.
