'Give us proof,' Arvind Kejriwal challenges PM Modi as AAP faces raids

New Delhi, October 11: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal strongly defended his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding ongoing investigations into his party's members. This comes a day after the Enforcement Directorate conducted a raid on the premises of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan. Kejriwal asserted that all cases against AAP ministers and MLAs are baseless, and he welcomed a comprehensive inquiry.

Kejriwal emphasised that not a single penny has been found with any AAP leader despite over 170 cases filed against them. He pointed out that in approximately 140 cases, the verdict has favored AAP members. Kejriwal reiterated his challenge to the Prime Minister, stating, "I am again challenging."

Addressing the recent raids and arrests of AAP members, Kejriwal highlighted the absence of concrete evidence. Referring to the recent Supreme Court hearing in the case of Manish Sisodia, he noted that the judge repeatedly urged the authorities to provide evidence, questioning the credibility of the cases.

Amanatullah Khan, whose residence was raided, met with Kejriwal to provide an account of the events. He mentioned that the agencies seized their mobile phones and spent 12 hours at their premises. The raid was linked to an FIR from 2016, for which the CBI had already filed a chargesheet. Amanatullah Khan contended that the agencies were not investigating corruption but citing irregularities.

The Supreme Court also played a significant role in this unfolding drama. During the hearing of Manish Sisodia's case, the court questioned why the Aam Aadmi Party had not been named as an accused if it had benefited from the alleged liquor scam. The court instructed the Enforcement Directorate to establish a money trail in the purported scam.

The Supreme Court made it clear that Manish Sisodia was not involved in the alleged scam, and his connection to any money laundering activities remained unproven. The court emphasized the need for a clear link between the funds and the accused, underlining the distinction between money laundering and other financial offenses.
