'I wasn't driving, friend borrowed car': Owner of car that hit woman biker in Gurugram
PTC News Desk: The owner of the car that allegedly hit a woman biker in Gurugram has said that he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
“I was not driving the car,” the owner, Manish, said.
The woman biker, identified as Sia, was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike on Golf Course Road in Gurugram on Sunday when a speeding white sedan allegedly hit her. The incident was recorded on an action camera attached to her motorcycle, and the video later went viral on social media.
"I have spoken to my friend. He has told me he does not know where that person is," the owner said.
He added that the person who allegedly took the vehicle, along with the car, is currently not in contact with them.
"The other person along with the vehicle is not in our contact," he added.
Sia said she was riding with a group of bikers when the sedan started following her closely. She claimed that she asked the driver to keep a safe distance, but the situation escalated and the car suddenly swerved into her bike.
The impact threw Sia onto the road, leaving her injured. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The car owner said he later saw the video of the incident on social media. He claimed that his friend, Kalyan Singh, then told him that another person, whom he barely knows, had taken the car.
Manish also said that Gurugram Police had not contacted him so far.
Another video recorded by a fellow biker showed members of the group chasing the sedan. They briefly confronted the person inside the car at a traffic signal, but the vehicle allegedly drove away.
Gurugram Police have taken suo motu cognisance of the incident and are registering a case against the driver.
