Haryana: Days after violence, 45 illegal shops demolished in Nuh

Nuh, August 5: Following recent incidents of violence resulting in the death of six persons, including two home guards, the district administration authorities conducted an anti-encroachment drive on Saturday morning. Over 45 shops deemed "illegal" were demolished in the Nalhar road area of Haryana's Nuh district.

The enforcement wing of the district administration, headed by the local SDM and accompanied by officials from the town planning department, arrived at the market area adjacent to SHKM Government Medical College on Nalhar Road. They commenced the removal operation, utilising several earth-moving machines and a team of workers." More than 45 commercial shops built illegally are being demolished on Nalhar road," Nuh District Town Planner said while speaking to ANI.

To ensure the safety and avoid any potential disturbances, a significant police force was deployed in the area throughout the anti-encroachment drive. Nuh SDM Ashwani Kumar said the action was carried out under the orders of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

"The encroachment was spread across 2.5 acres of land. All of it was illegal construction. It has been found that some of these people had involvement in the recent clashes," Kumar said while speaking to ANI.

Earlier on Friday, the Haryana Police said as many as 141 persons had been arrested and 55 FIRs registered in connection with the violence and rioting at Haryana's Nuh district on Monday.

The toll in the violence that broke out between two groups on Monday stood at six, including two police home guards, while another 88 were injured, the police added.
