Dipu Das killing: After Hindu man’s lynching in Bangladesh, protests turn violent outside Bangladesh Embassy in Delhi
A police force of around 15,000 personnel was deployed to manage the demonstration. Authorities successfully stopped the protesters nearly 800 metres away from the Bangladesh High Commission. Government buses were also positioned as barricades to prevent demonstrators from advancing towards the mission.

PTC Web Desk: A large-scale protest by members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), along with other Hindu organisations, including the Bajrang Dal, erupted outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Tuesday over alleged attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The demonstration was sparked by the recent mob lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in the neighbouring country.
Anticipating unrest, the Delhi Police had stepped up security arrangements around the diplomatic mission earlier in the day. The area was secured with multiple layers of barricading and reinforced by additional police and paramilitary personnel.
However, despite the heightened security presence, authorities struggled to manage the swelling crowd as hundreds of protesters pushed past barricades, shouted slogans targeting the Bangladesh government and waved placards. Some banners carried strong messages, including slogans demanding accountability for alleged violence against Hindus.
As tensions escalated, the barricades were breached at several points, forcing police to intervene to prevent the situation from worsening.
Reacting strongly to the developments, Bangladesh condemned the protest and summoned Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, Pranay Verma. In an official statement, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a deliberate act of intimidation against a diplomatic establishment.
“Such premeditated actions threaten the safety of diplomatic personnel and undermine the principles of mutual respect, peace and tolerance,” the statement said, urging the Indian government to ensure adequate security for Bangladeshi diplomatic missions.
Similar demonstrations were also reported in Kolkata, prompting the authorities to enhance security at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. Armed police personnel were deployed in the area, while armoured vehicles of the Bangladeshi Army were positioned outside the mission’s main entrance as a precautionary measure.
