According to Section 5(1) of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, Hyderabad was established as the common capital for both states for a period of not more than ten years beginning June 2, 2014.

According to Section 5(2) of the Act, after this period, Hyderabad will become the sole capital of Telangana, with a new capital established for Andhra Pradesh.

Which city is the new capital of Andhra Pradesh?

Andhra Pradesh has yet to establish a permanent capital, with ongoing legal disputes over Amaravati and Visakhapatnam.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has stated that if he remains in power, Visakhapatnam will be the administrative capital, Amaravati the legislative seat, and Kurnool the judicial capital.
