IAF pilot killed in Assam crash was part of Operation Sindoor, visited home 10 days ago
PTC News Desk: Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar, who was killed after an Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jet crashed in Assam's Karbi Anglong on Thursday, was part of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
He was only 28 years old.
Duragkar's death has left his family completely shattered and inconsolably grieving. His father Ravindra Duragkar, a retired railway employee, who is now left with only memories of his son's last phone call and a recent family gathering.
His father also said that the family was initially unaware of his participation in Operation Sindoor.
"15 days after Operation Sindoor was paused did we get to know that he was part of the operation. He did not have his mobile phone with him during that time. We were not in touch with him during that time," he said.
Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar exuded exemplary dedication towards his duty during the Operation Sindoor, a significant military operation carried out by India and targeted terror bases in Pakistan.
Recounting the final moments, his father said that he visited the family just 10 days ago for a small family get-together. Both Purvesh and his sister had come to Nagpur for the occasion.
While reminiscing Duragkar's experience as a fighter pilot, he said that his son often talked about the pride he felt when he used to don the uniform and the thrill of flying high speed aircraft.
