Israel releases drone footage capturing last moments of Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar
PTC News Desk: Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has released drone footage capturing the final moments of Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in a military operation in Gaza. The footage shows the 62-year-old Hamas leader sitting on a couch, surrounded by rubble inside a dilapidated house, as he throws an object at the drone.
The IDF announced Sinwar's death on Thursday, stating, "Eliminated: Yahya Sinwar," in a social media post. Foreign Minister Israel Katz characterised Sinwar as a "mass murderer" responsible for the October 7 attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 1,206 individuals, primarily civilians.

In a video message, IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari discussed the implications of Sinwar's killing, stating, "Sinwar was responsible for the most brutal attack against Israel in our history." He referenced the atrocities committed during the October 7 assault, including the massacre of Israelis in their homes and the abduction of over 250 individuals, many of whom remain hostages in Gaza under dire conditions.

Hagari accused Sinwar of waging war while hiding behind civilians, reiterating that Israel's conflict is with Hamas, not the people of Gaza. He emphasized Israel's commitment to increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza, aiming to assist those suffering due to Sinwar's actions, while also expressing condolences to the families affected by the violence.
In conclusion, Hagari stated that the IDF would not rest until all hostages are brought home, vowing to continue military operations until their objectives are met. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also weighed in, labeling Sinwar's death as an "important landmark in the decline of the evil rule of Hamas." He noted that while this event does not signify the end of the conflict in Gaza, it marks a significant turning point.
Sinwar was identified as the architect of the October 7 attacks, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
