PTC News Desk: Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained four individuals in the Valley for questioning, a day after the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort. On Monday, the J&K Police announced the busting of a “white-collar” inter-state terror module, leading to the arrest of eight people — including three doctors — and the seizure of over 2,900 kilograms of material used to manufacture Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Among those arrested is Dr. Muzamil Ahmad Ganai, alias Musaib, a resident of Koil in Pulwama, who had been employed at Al-Falah University for the past three and a half years. Another detainee is Dr. Shahin Shahid, a woman doctor from Uttar Pradesh, working at the university’s hospital.
Police sources said on Tuesday that Umar is believed to have been driving the Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort on Monday evening. “The investigation is ongoing to determine Umar’s exact role,” an official stated.
Following Ganai’s arrest, Umar went into hiding, prompting police to intensify their efforts to trace him. Detentions have been made in south Kashmir as investigators work to identify the car’s ownership.
A police official confirmed that Amir Rashid from Pulwama district — whose Aadhaar card was reportedly used to purchase the vehicle — is also being interrogated. “Questioning of those detained is currently in progress,” the official added.
