Kashmiri Pandit woman's murder case reopened after 35 years, raids in Kashmir ensue

The officials said the agency conducted the raids at the residences of several persons, who were formerly associated with the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in connection with the murder of Sarla Bhat.

Kashmiri Pandit woman's murder case reopened after 35 years, raids in Kashmir ensue

PTC News Desk: Thirty five years after the murder of a Kashmiri Pandit woman Sarla Bhat, the State Investigation Agency on Tuesday reopened the case with raids in Central Kashmir ensued. 


The officials said the agency conducted the raids at the residences of several persons, who were formerly associated with the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in connection with the murder of Sarla Bhat.

Bhat went missing from her hostel at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura in April 1990 and was later found dead in downtown Srinagar. 

The sleuths of the agency carried out raids at the residences of former JKLF leader Peer Noorul Haq Shah alias Air Marshal.

Further details about the raids were awaited, the officials said.
