Ketan Aggarwal murder case: Police nab Chetan’s friend in case, third arrest so far
PTC News Desk: Pune Rural Police have arrested a third person in connection with the murder of businessman Ketan Agrawal, who was allegedly killed by his fiancée and her lover in June.
The arrested man, Ritesh Hinge, was a classmate of the main accused, Chetan Choudhary. Police suspect that Hinge knew about the murder plan before it was carried out.
Hinge has been sent to police custody until September 12 and is expected to be made a co-accused in the case. Police sources said Choudhary and his girlfriend, Siya Goyal, allegedly discussed the plan to kill Agrawal with Hinge before the murder at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
The couple reportedly asked Hinge several times to join them at Lohagad on the day of the incident, but he refused. Investigators suspect he was aware of the alleged conspiracy. Police also found that Choudhary met Hinge shortly after Agrawal’s death, while Goyal remained in contact with him.
Police traced Hinge using information found on Choudhary’s phone. Hinge, who is originally from Beed district, works for a private company in Pune’s Balewadi area. He had reportedly been in contact with Choudhary since the last week of May.
Investigators are questioning Hinge to find out how much he knew about the murder and whether he helped in planning or carrying out the crime.
Ketan Agrawal murder case
Ketan Agrawal, a Pune-based businessman, died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18 while trekking with his fiancée, Siya Goyal.
The death was initially considered an accident. Goyal told police that Agrawal slipped while they were taking photographs near the edge of the fort.
The case took a different turn after Agrawal’s sister questioned Goyal and noticed inconsistencies in her account. The family then approached the police, who began investigating the circumstances of his death more closely.
Police later arrested Goyal and Choudhary on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.
CCTV footage near the fort’s ticket counter showed Choudhary, wearing a hoodie, following Agrawal and Goyal on the day of the incident.
Investigators also found that Choudhary had allegedly left his phone at his workplace and used a colleague’s phone instead. Police suspect he did this to hide his movements.
