Meghalaya honeymoon murder: How Sonam's 'mangalsutra' helped police crack murder case ?
PTC News Desk: The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Meghalaya was cracked after following discovery of Sonam's mangalsutra and a ring left behind his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi at a homestay in Sohra, Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) I Nongrang said on Wednesday.
Before the couple left the homestay, she left her mangalsutra and a ring in the room.
"In the room of the homestay, we found Sonam's mangalsutra and a ring in the suitcase, which gave us the first doubt. Why would a woman who recently got married leave her mangalsutra in a suitcase during their honeymoon?" Deputy Inspector General DNR Marak said.
What started as a search operation, swiftly transformed into a murder investigation after Raja Raghuvanshi's decomposed body was found in a deep gorge in Sohra area of East Kasi hills. Following discovery of his body speculations of Sonam meeting a similar fate gained momentum until last Sunday when she was arrested for allegedly killing her husband over a probable love affair with Raj who used to work in her father's factory.
The motive behind the brutal killing has not been established yet.
