Midnight clashes reported at Connaught Place; stones pelted at cops near Janpath, FIR lodged
PTC News Desk: A protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in New Delhi turned violent late Tuesday night after a large group of demonstrators took out an unannounced march from Jantar Mantar to Connaught Place. During the march, some protesters clashed with police, allegedly pelted stones at police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel, and were also seen attacking an RAF officer.
Police used force to disperse the crowd, saying the organisers had not taken permission for a march beyond the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar.

Officials said protesters at Connaught Place's Outer Circle also damaged several police vehicles during the violence. The area had already witnessed unrest on Monday during the CJP's 'Chalo Sansad' march towards Parliament.
Delhi Police has registered six FIRs in connection with the violence, vandalism and other incidents linked to the 'Chalo Sansad' protest and the farmers' protest held on July 20.
According to police sources, investigators are looking into whether there was a larger criminal conspiracy behind the violence. The cases have been registered at Parliament Street, Connaught Place and other police stations under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
A separate FIR has also been filed over the alleged attack on Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel in Connaught Place.
