Former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa’s son Aqil dies at 35, cremation to be held in Saharanpur
PTC Web Desk: Aqil, the son of former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa, passed away in Panchkula on Thursday night. The 35-year-old was rushed to Government Hospital in Sector-6, Panchkula, where doctors declared him dead. Following the post-mortem, the body was sent to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh for the last rites, which will take place in the family’s ancestral village, Harda. Aqil was married and a father of two, a son and a daughter.
According to family sources, Aqeel’s father, Mohammad Mustafa, left for Saharanpur early in the morning after completing formalities related to the case. Mustafa, who retired as Punjab’s Director General of Police in 2021, later joined the Congress and shared close ties with former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Aqil’s mother, Razia Sultana, is a former Punjab minister. The family is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
