Nine-year-old Rajasthan girl dies of heart attack during school lunch break
Rajasthan Sikar heart attack death: In a heart-wrenching incident, a nine-year-old girl in Rajasthan’s Sikar district died after suffering a sudden heart attack while at school. The incident took place on Tuesday morning at Adarsh Vidya Mandir, located in Danta, Sikar.
Prachi Kumawat, a Class 4 student, reportedly collapsed around 11 am as she was about to open her lunchbox during the school’s break. Principal Nand Kishore recalled, “She dropped her lunch and fainted. We were all nearby on the school grounds and immediately rushed to help.”
Initially assuming it was a case of common fainting, the school staff provided water, but Prachi’s condition appeared critical. She was swiftly taken to the nearby Community Health Centre (CHC), just 500 metre away. Medical staff there administered emergency treatment, including oxygen and cardiac resuscitation. “She seemed to stabilise briefly,” Kishore said.
Doctors at the CHC referred her to Shri Kalyan Hospital in Sikar for further care. However, before reaching the hospital, she suffered another cardiac arrest inside the ambulance. Despite best efforts, she could not be revived. The school was informed of her passing around 1.30 pm.
“She was such a bright child — full of life and always smiling. Even when we scolded her, she never lost her cheerful spirit,” the principal shared. Prachi’s final rites were held later that day at 4 pm.
Dr RK Jangid, stationed at the Danta CHC, stated that the girl suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while in school. “Although no post-mortem was conducted, based on the symptoms and response to treatment, it appeared to be a heart attack,” he said. Notably, Prachi had no known history of heart conditions or congenital issues. Her father works at a private firm in Gujarat, the school confirmed.
