Parvesh Verma, Kapil Mishra, Manjinder Singh Sirsa to be inducted in Delhi cabinet

PTC News Desk: Parvesh Singh Verma and Kapil Mishra will join Rekha Gupta's new cabinet, according to a notification issued by President Droupadi Murmu’s office on Thursday morning, just hours before the Delhi Chief Minister and her ministers are set to take their oaths.

The notification also appointed Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ashish Sood, Pankaj Kumar Singh, and Ravinder Indraj Singh to the cabinet.

There was uncertainty over who would replace the AAP's Atishi as Chief Minister between the announcement of results on February 8 and late last night, with the BJP keeping its decision under wraps. The speculation ended when the party appointed Ms. Gupta.

Rekha Gupta will be the BJP’s first Delhi Chief Minister in almost 30 years and its second woman CM, following the late Sushma Swaraj, the last BJP leader to hold the position. Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, will take over from Swaraj.

BJP won 48 seats out of 70 seats, while Aam Aadmi Party could win only 22 seats in the assembly polls held earlier this month. Congress could not open its account in the third successive election. With assembly election results declared on February 8, opposition parties have slammed BJP over the "delay" in the formation of the new government.
