Republic Day 2024: Know top attractions, highlights and specialty of this year’s R-Day

Republic Day 2024: India is all set to celebrate its 75th Republic Day on January 26, 2024, honoring the historic date when the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. 

Republic Day commemorates the historic moment when India officially became a republic. On this day in 1950, the Indian Constitution, which had been adopted by the Constituent Assembly on January 26, 1950, came into force.

This year’s Republic Day has total of 25 tableaux, including 16 from various States and Union territories and 9 from central government departments, will be on display at the Republic Day parade.

French Army to participate in Republic Day celebration

For Republic Day 2024 Parade, French Army has been invited and around 130 people with music band on the French, infantry regiment based in the south of France to march on Kartavya Path. Three planes - two Rafaels and one tanker aircraft will also be showcased on Republic Day 2024. 
India and France share a high degree of convergence on a range of regional and global issues as strategic partners. This year, India and France will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership.

Chandrayaan-3 success to be highlighted 

The Indian Space Research Organization's (ISRO) is also all set to participate in this year's Republic Day parade and will showcase the Chandrayaan-3 as its primary highlight.

The tableau features the launch of Chandrayaan-3 and its successful landing on the south pole of the moon. It also highlights the landing point, which was named Shiv Shakti Point.A total of 25 tableaux, including 16 from various States and Union territories and 9 from central government departments, will be on display at the Republic Day parade.

Display of sarees from different states of India 

The top attraction of Republic Day 2024 will be a spectacular display of sarees from different states and union territories of India in the form of 'Anant Sutra'. 
The Ministry of Culture will showcase the 'Anant Sutra’ - The Endless Thread' textile installation at Kartavya Path. It will be installed behind the spectators seated in the enclosures.

As many as 1,900 sarees and drapes from every corner of the country, mounted at a height with wooden frames along the Kartavya Path. It will have QR codes that can be scanned to know the details about weaving and embroidery arts used in it.

All-women tri-services contingent taking part in R-Day 

In a momentous moment for India, for the first time, an all-women tri-services contingent will take part in Republic Day 2024 which will include women troops of the Army's military police along with women from the other two services.
The 75th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path to be women-centric; 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka' are the main themes.

The nation eagerly waits for the exceptional performance of the women's contingent, which is poised to leave an indelible mark on the grand stage of the Republic Day celebrations.  

AI Integration to be highlighted 

This year’s Republic Day celebration will showcase the involvement and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in various sectors and industries. This year’s Republic Day will teach that how AI can be helpful in the health, business, educational and across various sectors. 

Gujarat tourism to be highlighted 

This year’s Republic Day celebration will also focus on the theme "Dhordo: Global Identity of Gujarat's Border Tourism" which will offer an overview of the state's rich cultural heritage. This year  tableau is set to feature the distinctive"Bhunga" houses of Dhordo, acknowledged by UNWTO, along with local handicrafts, Rogan art, the vibrant "Ran Utsav," Tent City, and the cultural phenomenon of Garba, which has been declared Gujarat's "Intangible Cultural Heritage" by UNESCO.
