School bus overturns in Jaisalmer; 30 children injured, one person dead
Jaisalmer, July 12: A school bus overturned in Jaisalmer on Wednesday, leaving one dead and injuring 30 children.
The bus was ferrying the students to their school when the accident took place, officials said. The accident occurred near Pokhran town.
"The driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned," Assistant Sub Inspector of Sankra police station (Jaisalmer) Kailash Chand informed on Wednesday.
He stated that many of the injured students were rushed to a Jaipur hospital, while others were admitted to a local medical facility.
Chand went on to say that the parents of other children had taken them to private hospitals.
According to the ASI, the students were between the ages of 10 and 15. He also stated that the bus driver was injured in the accident.
According to Jodhpur Collector Himanshu Gupta, 11 schoolchildren were rushed to Jodhpur for treatment from Jaisalmer and were all declared safe, however, a staffer, named Vikram Singh, died as a result of his injuries.
