6 killed, several feared trapped as building collapses after heavy rain in Bengaluru
Bengaluru building collapse: At least 6 people died and several are feared trapped under debris after a building collapsed due to heavy rain in Bengaluru.
According to reports, a dog squad has also joined the rescue operation.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Bengaluru's eastern area, Horamavu Agara. According to officials, around 20 individuals were inside the building when it collapsed.
The under-construction Bengaluru building that fell yesterday was illegal, and the owner will face severe consequences, said Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
"I was informed that no permission was granted. Illegal activities were going on. We will take stern action against the owner, the contractor, and everyone else. We will make a decision for Bengaluru as a whole. All illegal work will be halted immediately... the contractor, my officials, and even the property owner will all face legal consequences," Shivakumar said after reviewing the area at Horamavu Agara, where the incident occurred.
"According to the information I received, there were 21 labourers here. The body of 26-year-old Arman was recovered. 26 people work here daily," the Deputy Chief Minister added.
